Stucco is one of the most beautiful and durable exterior finishes available — when properly installed. The critical word is "properly." Stucco failures are almost always the result of improper installation, skipped waterproofing steps, or inadequate flashing details. Our crews have the experience to do it right.
The time-tested standard for exterior stucco. Three separate layers are applied over metal lath: the scratch coat (bonding layer), the brown coat (leveling layer), and the finish coat (texture and color). Each layer must cure properly before the next is applied. When done correctly, 3-coat stucco is extraordinarily durable.
Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS, popularly known by the brand name Dryvit) apply a polymer-based synthetic plaster over an EPS foam insulation board. EIFS offers outstanding insulation value, lighter weight, and more flexibility than traditional stucco. Modern "barrier EIFS" and "drainage EIFS" systems include integrated moisture management.
Cracks, spalling, impact damage, and delaminated sections can be repaired without full replacement. We assess whether cracking is superficial (finish coat only) or structural (full system failure), and tailor the repair scope accordingly. Color-matching the existing finish is a craft — one we take seriously.
The stucco itself is not your home's primary water barrier — the weather-resistant barrier (WRB) installed beneath the stucco system is. When that barrier is improperly installed, damaged during lath application, or missing entirely, water infiltrates behind the stucco where it cannot dry. The result: rotted sheathing, mold, and structural damage hidden behind a wall that looks fine from the outside.
Our stucco work always starts with the WRB. We install code-compliant paper or modern fluid-applied barriers, carefully flash every window, door, and penetration, and only then proceed with lath and plaster application. We build your exterior envelope to keep water out — not just to look good.
Schedule Free Assessment30-lb felt paper or modern housewrap installed under all lath. The true water management layer of any stucco system.
Every window and door opening is wrapped and flashed before stucco application. This single detail is the most common failure point we see on poorly done stucco jobs.
Modern drainage EIFS systems include a drainage plane channel behind the insulation board that allows any incidental water infiltration to drain down and out — an additional safety net against moisture accumulation.
Ocean County's humidity, salt air, and storm-driven rain create unique challenges for stucco. We understand the thermal and moisture movement in coastal NJ and select products and detailing accordingly — not just what works inland.
From smooth Santa Barbara-style finishes to rustic rough-trowel and coarse aggregate textures, stucco offers more aesthetic variety than any other cladding system. We work with you to achieve the exact look you envision for your home's exterior.
We never just "patch over" stucco problems without understanding why they occurred. Cracks that keep coming back, stucco that sounds hollow, or walls with persistent interior moisture staining all have root causes that must be addressed before any repair will last.
We work on older NJ homes with original stucco and understand the compatibility requirements between old and new materials. We can replicate original textures and source matching pigments to keep historic character intact.

Stucco is a significant exterior investment, especially on larger homes. We offer financing options so you can choose the right system for your home without having to compromise on scope or quality.
We inspect the existing stucco surface and underlying substrate. For repair work, we identify whether cracks are superficial, structural, or moisture-driven — a critical distinction that determines the right repair strategy.
For new installations, weather-resistant barrier and metal lath are installed correctly. For repairs, failed waterproofing is corrected before any stucco work proceeds. The foundation matters most.
Each coat is applied at proper thickness with adequate cure time between layers. Scratch coat, brown coat, and finish coat are each applied by experienced plasterers — not laborers following a rushed schedule.
The finish coat delivers your chosen texture and integral color or elastomeric paint topcoat. For repairs, we blend carefully to minimize visual transition between old and new. Final inspection confirms every surface is uniform and correctly sealed at all transitions.
