Modern "tin" roofing is actually galvanized steel or Galvalume-coated steel. The name persists from historical usage, but today's panels are engineered for corrosion resistance.
40–60+ years with galvanized or Galvalume coating. Painted finishes maintain appearance for 25–35 years before needing a refresh.
Tin works well for ranch, farmhouse, coastal, and rustic architectural styles. For contemporary or colonial homes, standing seam or metal shingles may be a better aesthetic fit.
